You Can Now Buy Adwoa Aboah's Signature Chains

Gold jewellery is part and parcel of Adwoa Aboah’s style. It’s rare to see the Vogue cover girl and contributing editor without lashings of chains around her neck, and delicate rings snaking up her ear. And now, thanks to a collaboration with John Hardy, you can buy into her mode of self expression.

The model-jeweller relationship began last year, when the Bali-born company enlisted Aboah for its autumn/winter 2017 Made for Legends campaign. They got on like a house on fire. A shared philosophy for using jewellery as a mode of empowerment and a desire to support female creatives meant that a collaborative creative process was well underway before they began sketching.

And so, AA x JH is a selection of silver and gold pieces anchored in the earth’s raw powers with punctuating stones chosen for their affirming properties – pyrite, black tourmaline and hematite for grounding and strength and pink tourmaline, rose quartz and spinel for colour, energy and light.

“Our collaboration celebrates the artistic spirit of chain, its strength and ability to transform into endless combinations to express to your personal aesthetic,” Hollie Bonneville Barden, creative director of John Hardy, explained of the union. “From the very beginning, Adwoa brought a distinctive point of view on raw materials that were rich in contrasts, including powerful stones accented with splashes of colour that felt authentic to her creative, bold style.”

Amidst the hoop earrings, multi-strand bracelets and handwoven linked necklaces are a set of stackable signet rings inspired by an Aboah family heirloom. The model activist evolved the lineage of the ring shape (it was passed down from her grandmother to her mother and then onto Aboah herself) by creating one in homage to Girls Talk, her female empowerment platform. “When designing I envisioned all the girls I love: my friends, my mum, my sisters, my tribe – wearing this jewellery,” she explains.
