The Fashion Awards 2018 To Celebrate 100 Industry Trailblazers

The nominees for the Fashion Awards 2018 in partnership with Swarovski are yet to be announced, but, ahead of the December 10 ceremony, the British Fashion Council has revealed a new element to the programme.

For the first time, the industry will celebrate its global community of young creatives by recognising 100 of the most talented trailblazers via a category entitled, New Wave: Creatives. Among the designers voted for by the 2,000 members in the extensive fashion committee will also be image-makers, hair and make-up artists, set designers, creative directors, models, digital influencers and stylists.

In keeping with the global theme, the New Wave: Creatives will be highlighted via a series of satellite events leading up to the ceremony in London, Shanghai and New York.

The first 20 names, unveiled by Caroline Rush, BFC chief executive in Shanghai, include Anny Fan (digital influencer), Chu Wong (model), Fan Qiong (stylist), Fan Zhang (hair stylist), Fil Xiaobai (stylist), Jiali Zhao (model), Jin Jia Ji (photographer), Jing Wen (model), Jumbo Tsui (photographer), Leslie Zhang (photographer), Liang Hengyi (photographer), Luo Yang (photographer), Mia Kong (stylist), Tao Liang, Mr Bags (digital influencer), Ting Chen (model), Wen Zhi (hair stylist), Xin Miao (make-up artist), Yu Cong (photographer/art director), Zeng Wu (photographer) and Ziqian Wang (photographer). Additional names from the shortlist will be unveiled in London and New York over the coming weeks.

“The Fashion Awards in partnership with Swarovski is a celebration of an incredibly diverse industry,” Rush said at The Middle House Shanghai event. “We are delighted to be launching New Wave: Creatives to highlight and celebrate creatives from all around the world, to inspire new collaborations and to encourage an even younger generation to consider the many creative roles that make up the fashion industry and follow in their footsteps.”
