The Off-White Spring / Summer 2021 Collection

The internet is amazing, isn’t it? Virgil Abloh might agree. Off-White showcased their latest coed Spring/Summer 2021 Collection “Adam is Eve” on a cyber fantastical platform called “Imaginary TV." Replete with the classic lime green on black Arial font that reminds you of the joys of Y2K computer usage, the web page gives you the chance to scroll through different “channels” where people are doing ballet, rock climbing, or walking the runway of his latest show.

"The idea of ‘Imaginary TV’ stems from a modern poetic vision for, and of, the evermore virtual world. It takes a universal and all-inclusive approach. I want to connect and generate a global network, and bring together creativity while catalyzing a range of emotions,” Abloh explains.

“Adam is Eve” sees its models walk through a space that seems equal parts suspiciously clean warehouse and empty art gallery. The environment would seem vacant if not for the moments when models find themselves in waist-length tall grass stationed in the middle of the room, a small Eden against the white walls around them. And as the models walk, there is a quite relaxing soundtrack of birds chirping, a babbling river, and thunderstorms.

Abloh’s latest coed collection switches a preposition, Adam and Eve becomes Adam is Eve, creating an equal playing field between the world’s most famous man and woman. Abloh’s vision sees women in exquisitely tailored satin black suits and men in ankle-length pleated skirts. The garments, mostly a collection of well-tailored separates, is polished, almost austere. In Abloh’s post-gender, Eden-like, cyber world, things are all business. Leather jackets are impeccable and the footwear, strappy stilettos, and sexy, high-heeled boots in chocolate tones are highlights.

He explains, "Within the collection itself, I wanted to capture what it is to be human at this very moment. Conundrum is OK, glitches are OK, duality is OK, and a dissolution of norms is OK."After the last year spent online, we know a thing or two about glitching. Off-White makes it fashionable. Fans of the latest collection don't have to wait long to get it in their hands. "Adam is Eve" will be available to shop on Off-White and Farfetch shortly.
