Burberry Pays Homage To The Natural World For F/W'21

Almost three years since he was appointed chief creative officer at Burberry (LSE:BRBY.L +1.60%) , Riccardo Tisci has today presented his first menswear-only collection for Fall/Winter 2021 entitled: “Escapes”.

Following the fashion house’s outdoors-inspired pre-collection last month, in which Tisci drew on Burberry’s connections with the great outdoors with the reworking of signature brand staples, FW21 continues in much the same vein.

Pleats, panels and fringes on a traditional garments like trench coats and field jackets have been engineered to reflect motion and activity, while a stripped wool duffle coats and reconstructed varsity jackets in plongé leather and cotton cashmere are arguably the stand-out pieces.

Tailoring has been refined for a concise, yet classic finish, with slim-fit jackets housing exaggerated lapels, split shorts over metallic mesh cycling lycra and grain de poudre wool transforming traditional looks.

Accessories like the oversized messenger bag, pocket bag and a range of umbrellas act as a continuation of Tisci’s outdoors focus, while the house’s nod to wildlife is realised with deer-inspired silhouettes of knitted beanies and footwear on moulded soles sculpted to resemble hooves.

You can watch Burberry’s full FW21 presentation in the video above, with the collection itself expected to land later in the year via Burberry’s online webstore.
