Attack Of The Clones: Kanye Replicates Kim For Yeezy Season Six

Just when you thought Kanye West was becoming a fashion recluse, he pulls the ultimate meta publicity stunt from afar.

On the eve of the Yeezy season six collection launch, West recreated the street-style pictures of Kim Kardashian West premiering his designs back in December – same poses, same platinum ‘dos, but on a gaggle of social media-savvy stars.

Just as West had paparazzi follow his wife round Calabasas in December, he recruited paps to follow reality TV graduates Paris Hilton and Jordyn Woods, models Abigail Ratchford and Sierra Skye, designer Sami Miró, beauty guru Kristen Noel Crawley and a handful of other Insta pros. And just as Kardashian West posted the photos on her social media accounts, the Kim clones diligently Tweeted and Instagrammed the caught-on-camera looks with the caption #YEEZYSEASON6. Boom. A new style of digital lookbook was born.

As the internet went into overdrive trying to quantify West’s marketing ploy – from his ability to capitalise on the reality TV fame of his wife, to society’s general fascination with all things-celebrity, especially crop top-wearing celebrities – the streetwear designer had the last laugh. Publicity is what he set out for, and publicity is what he has got. And for the second time in a decade, his wife succeeded in #BreakingTheInternet.
