Accurate down to the sequins and tailoring of the trousers, the dummy is remarkable. Created by Chris Alan, a Pennsylvania-based artist whose work has been featured on Live with Kelly and Watch What Happens Live, it represents the best of what can be accomplished in puppetry. The internet may be currently freaking out in response to Chalamet’s mini-me, but none of it would have been possible without Alan’s hard work.
Each step of the process was documented on his Instagram account and the amount of effort that went into the piece is evident in every post. After attempting to use a baby’s shirt pattern to replicate the Vuitton top, Alan eventually had to start from scratch and create his own. Each spangle on the harness was applied by hand over the course of a weekend, and even the perfectly undone Chalamet coif was clipped and styled by Alan. With 20 per cent of the proceeds going straight to the Trevor Project, it’s all for a good cause and sure to delight one very lucky ventriloquy enthusiast.
