Eight Things To Note From The Chanel Spring/Summer 2018 Resort Show

Set among enormous ruined pillars, Karl Lagerfeld's spring/summer 2018 resort collection for Chanel this time harked back to to purer times. An ancient Greek civilisation, to be precise. His "modern mythology", La Modernité de l'Antiquité, revived the ideal vision of ancient Greece - the origin of beauty and culture, according to Lagerfeld. This was a calmer affair, as far as Chanel shows go, with the notable absence of the gaggle of Insta girls - Kendall, Gigi and Bella. Here are eight instant take-aways from Chanel’s spring/summer 2018 resort show.

1. Karl Lagerfeld is done with the future - for resort 2017/18 he was all about the past - Ancient Greece to be precise.

2. Forget the bare-faced look - the coquettish cat's eye flick is back.

3. A transparent polka dot mac over a swimsuit is a good idea - especially when it's raining in Paris.

4. Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel was into marble - her headless Venus sculpture (dating back to 1st century BC - 1st century AD) still stands pride of place in Rue Cambon apartment.

5. Accessorise in neon - Grecian lace up platform sandal works best in fluorescent orange, or yellow.

6. Reconsider the Sloane Ranger Alice ban - it's now imbu.

7. Cara, Kendall and Gigi weren't there - instead, Anna Ewers, Mica Arganaraz and Vittoria Ceretti stole the show.

8. The soundtrack - it was all about Kindred by Daniel Deluxe.
