Skater, model, influencer, and now actor, Evan Rock is a multitalented man. You probably didn't know this, but Frank Ocean contributed to the success of Evan Mock. In 2019, the young model signed at IMG Models went skating in Oahu with his friend, artist Tom Sachs. Sachs, fascinated by his neon pink hair, asked him to be in one of his videos. He sent it to his friend Frank Ocean who had a similar hairstyle at the time. The musician posted the video on Instagram, getting millions of views and leading to Evan Mock gaining thousands of followers on social media in just a few hours.

Evan Mock is now one of the elite upcoming celebrities in the fashion world. He is no stranger to the front-row at brands like Prada, Off-White, Dior and Loewe. Most recently, he was chosen by Gap to be one of the icons of Generation Good, a campaign shot by photographer Mark Seliger that promotes inclusion, diversity, ecology and community, made to think together for a way to create a better future. That's not all: Evan Mock will soon become an actor, joining the cast of the Gossip Girl reboot, in which he has one of the main roles. The first season is slated for late 2021. The model/skater/actor answered all of Vogue Hommes's questions, from his vision on modern male fashion to everything skating taught him, Evan Mock tells us everything… with humor.

What was your reaction when you were asked to become one of the faces of Gap?

Finally, a brand I can tell my mom I’ve worked with and she’d know who it was.

If you had to describe Gap’s project in three words, what would they be?

An all-star roster.

How would you define your generation in a few words?

More accepting than ever. We are limit pushers, rule breakers.

 
What is the most important thing you’ve learned from your generation?

They stand up for what’s right, no matter what. 

They make things happen.
They find a way to get to the top, like no other before them.

You’re a model but also a skater and an actor. You’ve been chosen to play in the Gossip Girl reboot. How did you react when you heard this news?

Relieved! Because I was totally new to acting, I really had nothing to lose. But when I found out that I got it, I still felt a huge sense of relief!

Is there a particular cause that you believe in? If so, which one and why?

Through skateboarding I’ve understood the importance of how one skateboard can change a child’s life forever, even if they don’t stick with it. I think the basics of being a skater can teach you a lot in life. When you fall, you have to get back up and try again. Trying a new trick for the first time is like going into the unknown in a way, not knowing the outcome. That says a lot about this generation; the risk-takers and trailblazers go into the unknown, willing to take on anything that happens in front of them.

Which 5 essential pieces should a man always have in his wardrobe?

A good hat that fits your head just right.
Your favorite shirt that goes with everything.
A cozy hoodie.
A pair of sneakers that is ready for anything.
A pair of jeans you may never take off.

Which trends would you advise that we follow?

The ones that aren’t.

And which one is a no-go for you?

I’m not even gonna say a no-go because everything comes back around.

What does it mean for a man to have style today?

It’s more of a feel, a headspace, the confidence. The clothes on you, or off of you, are just an accessory.

Who is the best-dressed man in your opinion?

Dylan Rieder. Period.

A man that inspires you and why?

My father. Steve Mock. Seeing him go to work every day and work hard long hours EVERY DAY even on weekends! His work ethic truly inspires me to be the greatest I can be and inspires me to continue to work on my craft constantly.
