Afterhomework's Pierre Kaczmarek Is Reviving The Long-Lost Label Georges Wendell

The little-known and almost defunct ready-to-wear label Georges Wendell is back with a new image curated under the vision of Afterhomework‘s Pierre Kaczmarek. The 22-year-old Parisian designer rose to fame when he was just 16, becoming the youngest ever person to be nominated for the ADNAN Fashion Award for his first project Afterhomework, and now, he puts his mind to elevating a once-sleepy label into a fully-fledged men’s and women’s tailoring house.


For its second collection under the new direction, Georges Wendell presents a Fall/Winter 2021 offering during Paris Fashion Week that draws from the brand’s forgotten past, as well as “casual winter businessmen and Parisian retail owners,” for a season of contemporary tailored looks.


The result is one that’s reflective of Paris’ youth culture — it’s archetypically perfect and precisely tailored and the colors are muted for the most part, but prints and patterns remain vivid. Footwear styles are boundary-pushing while traditional at heart, and as for tailoring, it’s again classic but informed by the youth.


Upon examination, we see loafers made from patent gray leather that is contrasted by a busy lace situation, and coupled with these are a pair of tracksuit-like pants that are both baggy yet formal, detailed with yellow stripes on the seams. This look is complete with an oversized double-breasted blazer made from mottled and cracked brown leather, paired with a double-button button-down shirt.


Elsewhere we see a retro pajama-like ensemble, knitwear made from upcycled wool in Italy, and the standout of the season: a camel-toned mac with a removable cape and double collars.
