Scottish Fashion Invasion Hits London

The Scottish Fashion Awards will take place in London for the first time this year. The annual event, which celebrates leading Scottish fashion talent, will be held at historic Georgian mansion Dover House in Whitehall and be hosted by Secretary of State for Scotland Michael Moore MP, as well as awards founder Dr Tessa Hartmann.

"We've hosted this event in Scottish castles and contemporary and architecturally renowned Scottish buildings in Stirling and Glasgow over the last seven years," said Hartmann. "To showcase the nation's top talent in the UK's fashion capital, London, in 2013, will allow an even wider audience to become acquainted with what we have to offer as 'Fashion Scotland', and enable the talent to network with the UK's top industry players, fashion editors and buyers. London is, after all, the UK's fashion capital - it's where the top talent converse, exchange ideas, learn, grow and do business. It's a wonderful opportunity for everyone and I'm very grateful to the Secretary of State for Scotland for supporting the event and giving us this incredible platform."

This year's shortlist sees Scotland's best-known fashion names vie for the coveted awards, as Jonathon Saunders, Christopher Kane, Louise Gray and Holly Fulton  compete for the Scottish Designer of the Year prize. Other categories include Scottish Creative Excellence Award, Scottish Young Designer of the Year and International Designer of the Year. A panel - including Stella Tennant (who won 2012 Scottish Model of the Year), photographer Rankin (who won the Hall of Fame accolade in 2011), renowned fashion journalist Colin McDowell, British Fashion Council CEO Caroline Rush and vogue.co.uk editor Dolly Jones - will decide the final winners, to be announced at the glamorous ceremony on October 9.
