Helena Christensen’s Lacroix Bodysuit Looks Better Than Ever 26 Years After Its Catwalk Debut

Helena Christensen has been providing us with impromptu photoshoots from her glorious mountain hideout since March. Surrounded by meandering rivers and an undulating landscape, her Catskill Mountains retreat in upstate New York looks blissfully idyllic.

While she’s been “nature bonding” in the hills, she’s also had time to rifle through her impressive personal archive. Her latest find brings with it a dose of nostalgia. The 51-year-old model found a Christian Lacroix bodysuit with her face on it, which she wore in 1994 in Paris.

“Christian Lacroix gave me this bodysuit with my portrait on it after I wore it in one of his shows in my early twenties and I just found it again,” Christensen posted to Instagram, alongside a stream of photos of her wearing it while posing against a tree-lined river. “Somehow it made it through all these years and I still think it’s super cool.”

Rewind to 1994, and Christensen joined fellow supers Christy Turlington and Naomi Campbell on the runway. From 14th-century style corsets to elaborate embellishments, the autumn/winter collection was typical of Lacroix’s signature aesthetic. Twenty-six years on, the metallic bodysuit still feels current.
