Cult Model Daria Werbowy Came Out Of Retirement To Sit Front Row At Gucci

We’ve all been waiting with bated breath to see if the elusive Daria Werbowy would make an appearance at Gucci’s spring 2024 show, Sabato De Sarno’s inaugural collection for the brand. And thankfully, she did.

When Werbowy’s longtime friend De Sarno took the reins at Gucci from Alessandro Michele earlier this year, the muse stepped in front of the lens for the Italian house’s Marina Chain jewellery campaign, making an exception following her retirement from modelling in 2016.

“Daria, we started together in this business in 2003, and here you are with me at the beginning of this new adventure,” De Sarno wrote on his personal Instagram when he unveiled the poolside shots taken by David Sims at the Chateau Marmont in LA.

It led fashion fans to wonder whether the Canadian-Ukrainian model might stage another comeback on the runway at De Sarno’s first show with the brand during Milan Fashion Week. But when Gucci tweeted “#DariaWerbowy is captured at #GucciAncora”, it became clear that we would not be seeing Werbowy – who sat in the front row in a black lacy slip dress and black leather calf-high boots – on the catwalk. Still, we’ll take any Daria sighting we can get, whether she’s acting as a fan or as a model.
