Naomi Campbell Reminded Everyone What “Supermodel” Means At Paris Fashion Week

Ib Kamara enlisted a stellar cast to walk in his second show for Off-White, after he was appointed art and image director of the brand last year. Anok Yai, Precious Lee and Adut Akech all navigated the sandy set, which had a gigantic mirrored sphere in its centre – a reference to the autumn/winter 2023 collection’s title, “Lunar Delivery”.

Naomi Campbell also made her first autumn/winter 2023 appearance on the runway, walking across the otherworldly sand-scape wearing a form-fitting black dress with a halo neckline (look 6), before closing the show in a bomber-dress hybrid.

Up until now, the supermodel has been taking in the collections from the front row – she attended JW Anderson and Burberry in London, as well as British Vogue’s Fashion & Film party and Moncler’s spectacular Art of Genius event. It was a dazzling moment in a season that has been relatively muted on the casting front – who better to remind us of the enduring status of the original supermodel than Naomi? As she told British Vogue in her cover interview last year: “I wonder sometimes if models now could have kept up with us.”

These days, Campbell cherry picks her runway cameos: she walked for Boss, Tod’s, Burberry and Alexander McQueen for spring/summer 2023, and in January she walked in Daniel Roseberry’s Schiaparelli couture showcase.
