Galliano's spokesperson, Liz Rosenberg, declined to comment on the speculation - which first emerged onWWD. However, De la Renta CEO Alex Bolen released the following statement: "As we have said before, we are deeply impressed with John's talent and would love to find a way to work with him in the future. To date, we have not found that way."
De la Renta has "always worried" about what will happen to his business when he does finally retire, but hiring Galliano as his successor is not part of his plans yet.

"Am I retiring? Is John going to replace me?" he said in January. "Certainly not. I hope to be around for a long time."
Galliano made his big comeback earlier this year with a candid interview in Vanity Fair, then in June appearing on American Television show Charlie Rose - in which he discussed the "very big breakdown" that led to his Dior dismissal in March 2011.
