A Sequin-Clad Helena Christensen Makes A Surprise Appearance On The Balmain Runway

Helena Christensen made a catwalk comeback as part of the #BalmainArmy in Paris on Friday (28th February). The Danish supermodel stalked the runway in a shimmering sequined jumpsuit with power shoulders, which was in danger of being outshone by her enormous, scorpion-shaped ear cuff.

Creative director Olivier Rousteing has anointed multiple It-girls of Instagram as his Balmain ambassadors, Kendall Jenner and the Hadid sisters included, but his autumn/winter 2020 show had a more nostalgic feel. Christensen was joined on the runway by relative veterans Esther Cañadas, Liya Kebede, Julia Stegner, Caroline Ribeiro and Erin Wasson.

Christensen’s surprise appearance follows her spectacular viral cameo at Versace’s spring/summer 2018 show, where she was joined by fellow original supers Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer and Carla Bruni in matching golden gowns. At the spring/summer 2019 shows, she cropped up in a black body-con dress and a flower crown Dolce and Gabbana.

The supermodel, who thanked Rousteing for a “beautiful show experience” in a post on Instagram following the presentation, walked for everyone from John Galliano to Chanel to Vivienne Westwood to Azzedine Alaïa in her heyday.
