Irina Shayk Joins Gigi & Bella Hadid On The Florence Men’s Show Circuit

Pitti Uomo saw a brief interlude in the men’s fashion programme instigated by Carine Roitfeld. The former Vogue Paris editor teamed up with Florence retailer LuisaViaRoma to stage a show-cum-extravaganza befitting the company’s 90th anniversary. One hundred and two looks that nodded to the 1990s were worn by 61 female and 22 male models at the Piazzale Michelangelo, including three utterly fabulous couture Christian Lacroix wedding gowns.

Roitfeld called upon her inner circle of model friends (read: the biggest names in the business) to walk the runway, which was the first production from CR Runway, Roitfeld’s new project in collaboration with her son Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld. Gigi and Bella Hadid, Irina Shayk, Joan Smalls, Lara Stone, Alek Wek, Karen Elson and Halima Aden were just a handful of names completing the line-up. Lenny Kravitz performed, and the likes of Virgil Abloh and Heron Preston watched from the sidelines.

CR Runway will see the Roitfeld family stage an annual fashion show celebrating the industry’s foremost design and model talent in major cities around the globe. The inaugural Florence edition was an A-Z of the most influential brands in the business, including McQueen, Balenciaga, Dior, Gucci, Givenchy, The Row, Prada and Valentino, who supplied two looks each – some made exclusively for Roitfeld to be sold on the CR Runway micro-site.

Roitfeld has flexed her skills at show production before at the amfAR galas on the seasonal fashion calendar, but this time the output was blockbuster. Watch this space.
