Sibling For River Island

River Island has tapped London-based knitwear label Sibling to design its next Design Forum collection and, as designer Cozette McCreery told us, they jumped at the chance when asked.

"With any of our collaborations it always starts with the question: is this a good fit for the brand and the answer was a resounding yes!" said McCreery, who now co-designs Sibling with Sid Bryan since their design partner and friend, Joe Bates, sadly passed away earlier this year. "Both Sid and I love River Island's own product especially the level of quality and design. Also their list of previous collaborators: hello Rhianna! It was quite an honour to be asked really."

McCreery describes the resulting collection as "a thank you" to fans, who may not otherwise be able to afford to purchase pieces from their mainline, looking to "Drew Barrymore, Brigitte Bardot, the photographs of Ellen Von Unwerth, daisies and Sibling staples" for inspiration.

"This is a collection for the reader of this article, you, me, a boy - anyone!" continued McCreery. "We don't over think it, we just want the person to put on Sibling and feel confident and happy and then go out and have fun wearing it. Whoever you are, join the Sibling family."

The capsule collection comprises pink checked denim, ditsy florals and glitter knits, which the retailer said "oozes a carefree, happy and fun vibe" - in other words the DNA of Sibling according to McCreery.

"It will stand out because it's pure Sibling," she said. "There's colour, there's print, there's knit techniques, there's sparkle - all boosted by great hand feel and quality - basically all the things that are important to and make us, well, us."

The collection launches in February alongside a special Fashion Film during London Fashion Week, after which it will be on sale in selected UK stores and online at Riverisland.com, priced between £15 and £55.
