2012 was a special year for the pair who've long been pals. Anne married Adam Shulman in a frothy, sugary pink gown which was - surprise, surprise - by Valentino and got a dramatic crop for her starring role in Les Miserables. Meanwhile, the designer unveiled a fabulous exhibition of his gowns at Somerset House. 'She's a very good friend of mine, she's like my daughter,' the Italian revealed. Aw!
Anne And Valentino |
And it's true. Looking back at this fashionable friendship, these two have been BFFs ever since Valentino first dressed the actress at the Oscars back in 2007. Anne has oft been on the front row at his couture shows in Paris while the designer has even attended her film premieres. In 2009, it was Anne who introduced Valentino when he was inducted into the Rodeo Drive Walk of Style in Beverly Hills.
It certainly helps to have a designer chum to call on when you have to a red carpet shindig or two, so it's hardly surprising to see Anne so frequently swathed in Valentino creations, especially when they work so wonderfully with her ladylike style. Perhaps most memorably, the star wore a red strapless gown for the 2011 Oscars and looked nothing short of a twinkling princess in one of his gowns at the Met Ball in 2010.
