From small, under-the-shoulder models to rhinestone-encrusted clutches, the handbag is celebrated in all of its forms in this London exhibition opening in April 2020. An exhibition dedicated entirely to handbags will be on display at the V&A Museum in London from April 2020 and we're already booking our ticket.
Including travel trunks, handbags, backpacks, clutch bags, as well as mini shoulder bags and larger style purses, in 2020, the handbag will be taking over the Victoria & Albert Museum for a major exhibition where 18th century objects, Louis Vuitton trunks, Fendi Baguette bags and limited-edition models designed by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel all come together. An exhibition that looks at the bag as a fashion object, a functional object and even a social marker looking as far back as the very first creation techniques but also the popularization of the it-bag.
