Helena Christensen is more likely to be found cold water swimming than on the runway these days. But at Copenhagen Fashion Week, the Danish supermodel made a surprise appearance on the catwalk during Stine Goya’s spring/summer 2024 show.
Wearing her hair slicked back off her face, the 54-year-old closed proceedings in a baby-blue one-shoulder dress, paired with a matching non-shoe. Given that Christensen was born and raised in Copenhagen, it was a fitting end to the show entitled “Homecoming”, which was held on the cobbled residential street where former model Goya lives.
Although Christensen is now primarily based in the US, growing up in Scandinavia has clearly had a huge influence on the model, from her love of nature to her down-to-earth approach to life. “Coming from Denmark, [you are encouraged to] look at all the little things that are important and beautiful, that make you happy,” she previously told Vogue. “It’s not about the big things.”
Christensen isn’t the only famous face to have stormed the catwalk at Copenhagen Fashion Week, with Alana Hadid and Erin Wasson also making an appearance. As we head into fashion month, let’s hope we see more ’90s supers on the catwalk in the weeks to come.
