Tilda Swinton Touches Down At Venice Film Festival In Full-Look Bronze Chanel

Ahead of Venice Film Festival 2020, which is going ahead with social distancing measures from 2 to 12 September, Tilda Swinton has landed in the Floating City with a wardrobe to prove that it’s business as usual on the fashion front. The avant-garde cinema star and directional dresser, who will receive the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at this year’s film celebration, picked look three from Chanel’s Cruise 2020 collection to make her entrance. The bronze trench coat belted with a signature house chain, a matching quilted shoulder bag and sleek two-tone boots made for a luxe travel get-up with a difference. Swinton, who jetted to northern Italy’s Veneto region from the States, embodied the fabulous globe-trotting Chanel customer the Cruise collections cater to, and creative director Virginie Viard’s softer vision for the house.

Look three is, in fact, only the third Chanel outfit Viard presented to members of the press, after she succeeded Karl Lagerfeld at the maison in the spring of 2019. As British Vogue’s Sarah Harris said at the time, “It was evident the Cruise 2020 collection had come from a woman’s hand. The clothes looked a little more comfortable, a little more practical, even.” Perfect for a Hollywood icon about to take on the post-Covid-19 era of red-carpet events. Bring it on.
