Marni's Carolina Castiglioni Is Launching Her Own Label

Carolina Castiglioni, daughter of Marni founder Consuelo Castiglioni and former director of special projects at the Italian house, is launching a ready-to-wear fashion label called Plan C.

The announcement comes two years after her mother exited Marni, the label that she founded with her husband, Gianni, in 1994. Plan C will see Carolina unite the family once more, with Gianni serving as chief executive officer and her brother, Giovanni, as operations director.

Plan C will present its first collection in June for the spring/summer 2019 season, WWD reports. Following Carolina’s debut as creative director, the brand will follow a bi-annual collection format, with all the high-end ready-to-wear, knitwear and accessories sold at the brand’s Milanese headquarters on Via Visconti di Modrone.

The family-owned location was passed down to the designer from her great-grandmother, who founded the fur company Ciwifurs there in the early Sixties. Marni was initially conceived in order to expand the Ciwifurs offering into collections to complement its furs at the request of retailers.

At Marni, Carolina was credited with introducing the brand to a wider audience through initiatives, such as the Flower Market in 2014, and the Becoming Marni event in collaboration with Brazilian artist Véio at the Venice Biennale in 2015. Little is known about what her vision as a designer will look like.
