Louis Vuitton Debuts Grace Coddington Collaboration At Cruise 2019 Show

At Louis Vuitton’s Cruise 2019 catwalk show amidst the Mirós and Giacomettis of Saint-Paul-de-Vence’s Fondation Maeght, the house debuted a collaboration with Vogue contributing editor Grace Coddington. The collaboration sees Coddington putting her spin on the brand's iconic monogram pattern, scattering it with illustrations of her two cats, Pumpkin and Blanket, and of artistic director of womenswear Nicolas Ghesquière’s dog Léon. There are also patent leather bags in the cartoony shapes.

“My collaboration with Nicolas and his team at Louis Vuitton has been so much fun,” said Coddington in a statement. “I hope it will be a dream come true for Pumpkin, Blanket, and Nicolas’s dog—it certainly is for me. It started with our love for animals, it’s where Nicolas and I really connect beyond fashion.” The full range of items, including handbags, leather goods, and ready-to-wear, will arrive in Louis Vuitton stores in October.

Until then, shoppers will have to fantasise about how to style their animal-adorned products. If Ghesquière has any say, it will be with one of the bold-shouldered blazers and the thigh-high sneaker boots that filled out the rest of his Louis Vuitton collection. Or maybe you’d rather style it Coddington’s way: At the show she wore a silk pyjama set from the collaboration.
